Thomas Jones of Stafford Township NJ wrote his will on October 15, 1766 and died within two weeks. An inventory of his estate was taken on November 2-8. The will was proved and the inventory affirmed at Burlington NJ on 4 Feb 1767, and signed by his widow and executrix, Rebecca Jones "of the people known as Quakers". Scanned copies of the handwritten documents were sent to us in 2006 by Janet A. Jones of Santa Cruz, California. who also provided the following transcriptions.  The documents (#3197-3200) are filed in Book 12, folio 477 of Monmouth County Wills (1767).

The last Will and Testament of Thomas Jones Late of Stafford Township in Monmouth County in East Jersey being very weak in body but in perfect mind and memory do as foloweth to wit[:] I do apoint my wife Rececah and Nathan Barlte [sic, Bartlett] to be my Executors to the maniging of my afairs[.]  I do give unto my wife till my sons comes [sic] of age all profits that she can make of my land and then the land to be equaly divided between my two sons David and John and afterward my wife to have one third part of the use of the land as long as she remans [sic] my widow and when my sons comes of age they must pay ten pounds a peice to my three daughters if they be living to receive it.  I do constitute make and ordain this to be my Last and only Will.  I do hereby revoke and disanull all and Every former Will Ratefying this and no other to be my last Will and testament.  In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fifteenth day of October 1766.

Rebecca Jones Execx of the Last Will of Thomas Jones, decd being of the People called Quakers & duly Affirmed according to Law doth declare that the within Writing contains a true & perfect Inventory of all & singular the Goods Chattels & Credits of the sd decd that have come to her knowledge or Possession or to the Possession of any other Person or Persons for her use.
